Pursuant to a recent amendment to the Federal Fair Credit Reporting Act, every major nationwide consumer credit reporting company is now required by the law to provide you with a copy of free credit report once every 12 months, upon your request, at no cost to you.
If you need additional credit reports within a given 12 month period, you may be able to do so for a nominal fee. Certain states also have passed legislation which entitle you to a free report or a report at a reduced rate. Please consult with the following table to determine your cost of requesting a consumer credit report in your state of residence.
